To my delight, Cowboy Cab Company is importing English taxicabs for use right here in Dallas - FINALLY! Good stuff!

I read the other day they might be on the way out in the UK as strict new fuel and emissions controls come into force! So maybe , like a zoo with a captive breeding program for an endangered species, the world will be relying on your city!

That is a heart-breaking tragedy, sally! I'm SO disappointed London would cave to this manufactured crisis and lose such a cherished icon!!! Thanks for letting me know, though - yeah, send 'em all over, baby - and we'll welcome all the Brits who come to visit their old cabs.

I haven't seen "Steam", but you have reminded me of it now and will try to seek it out at the video shop! Thanks for the tip.

yet another bit of history and culture falls to political correctness. Very sad.

About 250 of these TX2 London taxis were imported into the US during 2004. Unfortunately, the diesel engine in the new TX4 doesn't meet the stricter 2007 US engine emissions requirement.

fat hairybastard - yup, a damned shame

anonymous - what a pity and what a loss for the USA - yet more meaningless bureaucratic baloney.
